News from the Worshipful Master

Brethren,

This is the time of the year when everyone is thinking of candy canes and sugar plums. Especial the young at heart and little ones. Beaver Valley Lodge wishes you and your family best wishes for the Holiday Season. Remember the purpose of the holiday. The birth of our Lord. Also remember those who are not as fortunate as we are. So please have a safe and enjoyable Christmas and New Years.

I would like to thank the brethren of the Lodge for electing me as Worshipful Master this past year. It has been a very enjoyable year. The officers did an excellent job in their work, especially at the annual inspection. Sideliners you were very supportive in your attendance. All of you would jump in when ever you were needed. So thank you all very much for your help and support this year.

On December 1st Beaver Valley Lodge will be holding its monthly stated meeting. There will be a dinner at 6:30 P.M. with the business meeting at 7:30 P.M. At this time I am not sure what the meal will consist of. December the 3rd Beaver Valley Lodge will be holding its Annual Installation of Officers at 2:00 P.M. Brother Brian Arnold has be elect Worshipful Master fore the ensuing year. So please come and show your support to Brother Brain and his officers as you have shown me this year. Then on December 10th the 8th Masonic District will be holding a School of Instruction at Bloomingburg Lodge at 9:00 A.M. This is a good time to review the degrees with the District Deputies and correct any missed used words in the degrees and lectures. The Type Written Ritual will be there. Finally on December 15th Beaver Valley Lodge will hold a EA Practice at 7:00 P.M. There will be a pro-tem candidate at this practice so the officers can simulate an actual degree night.

On January 1, 2012 Ormus Grotto will hold its Annual Pork and Sauerkraut Dinner at Beaver Valley Masonic Temple. It will be from 1:00 P.M. till 4:00 P.M. The cost will be donations. There will be a TV there for all the Bowl Games. You know they say it is good luck to have some sauerkraut on the first of the year. Please come and support the Grotto and give yourself good luck at the same time. See you there.

So I would like to say thank you again and fair well.

Fraternally,
Stephen L. Scarpelli
Worshipful Master

News from the Worshipful Master

Brethren,

Well Fall has arrived and the chill is in the air. This is the time when we give thanks to everything we have achieved. So bring out the Ben-Gay and rake those leaves.

October 14 &15 I attended the Annual Grand Lodge Communication in Cleveland. R.W.B. Kevin B. Todd has been elected our new Grand Master for 2012. So he is now referred to as Most Worshipful Brother (M.W.B.). The 8th Masonic District also received a new Deputy Grand Master this year to replace R.W.B. Keith Newton. Our new deputy is R.W.B. Jeff Garringer. R.W.B. Garringer is from New Holland Lodge. He is New Holland Lodge secretary and the 2nd Vive President of the 8th District Officers Association. Nice to have you aboard R.W.B. Garringer. At Grand Lodge we voted on several issues. Issue 1 was the transfer of Endowed Membership when 2 Lodges merge. If your Lodge is not the surviving lodge you can move your endowed member to a new Lodge. If you are the surviving Lodge your endowed membership remains with the Lodge. This issue did pass. Issue 2 was to be able to move the endowed membership to what ever Lodge you transfer too. This issue was voted down. Issue 3 was withdrawn for consideration. Issue 4 was the allowance of alcohol of no more than half percent for the purpose of Table Lodge Ceremonies in December and June. Each person is only aloud a maximum of 4 ounces and Vinous in nature. This issue did not pass. There was 3 proposals also brought up for consideration. Proposal 1 was about gambling in the Lodge, This proposal was not considered for this session. Proposal 2 is that there will not be more than five percent of the investments from endowed membership go to endowed Lodges. This proposal passed. Proposal 3 was to permit each District to have a copy of the Type Written Ritual in the hands of each District Advisor. This proposal passed.

On November 3rd Beaver Valley Lodge will hold its monthly stated meeting. This is also the Annual Election of Officers. So if you are interested in becoming an officer please show-up and let us know you are interested. Also all dues must be paid at this time. If your dues are not paid at this time you are considered not in good standing and will not be granted Masonic privileges. So please check your dues card (2012) and see if you’re current. If your aren’t please contact the secretary and rectify this problem. There will also be a covered dish dinner before the meeting. The Treasurer and Secretary will be serving the dinner. They will be serving fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Please bring your family or guest and favorite dish. There will not be any special meetings again this month. Brethren if you are working with a candidate please get together with them and help them finish their work. On November 19th the Masters Elect are be at New Burlington Lodge for their Past Masters Convocation. The Grand Masters program will be presented to all. The D.E.O.’s will also put on a Education Program to the L.E.O.s and others in the afternoon at this meeting. This is open to all Officers and Brethren. It will start at 9:00 A.M. with Coffee and Donuts at 8:00 A.M. On November 28th the 8th District will be holding another Ritual and Instructional session at Heber Lodge at 6:30 P.M. This session is open to all members especially the officers. This program is set-up to teach you the correct words in the ritual and teach you the by-laws and code. Beaver Valley Lodge will be holding its Installation of Officers on December 3.

Hello prophets and ladies,

Well I think that spring is finally here, the trees are budding, the flowers are blooming and the grass is turning green. I want to take the time to thank all the people that joined us for the annual Easter party held on April, 23rd. It was a great success the kids had a great time and found a lot of eggs. I would like to send a special thanks to my wife Kris for her hard work and dedication to the kids of our temple without her the party would not be such a success.

On May, 14, 2011 there will be a temple clean up day, several of the members from the temple board, Beaver Valley, Knollwood and Ormus Grotto will be meeting to do some spring cleaning of the outside grounds. We will be having breakfast around 8:30 with fellowship then out to the yard for some work. If there are any Prophets that would like to join and have a green thumb get in contact with me for more information. Al Partida will be setting up the work schedule so let me or him know if you would like to help out. This is a great way of giving back to the temple and saving the temple some money by taking on some of the yard maintenance ourselves.

The Grotto is at work planning its annual Grotto ball, there will be more information to follow. If anyone has any suggestions for this year’s ball please let me know. On May, 2nd the clowns will be meeting at children’s medical center to visit the kids, even if you are not a clown grab your fez and join in on the fun. We will meet in the main lobby at 6pm. On June 11 we will be holding our spring full form ceremonial in Springfield starting at 2pm. Please come out and support your Grotto and as always if you need a ride to any event please let me or Bill Broomhall know and we will make arrangements.

April Trestleboard

News From The Worshipful Master

Brethren,

As I am writing this bulletin Spring has sprung. The trees are budding and the tulips have sprung.

On the 5th of March RWB John Sanner and myself attended the Grand Master’s Reception. There was an excellent turn out. Beaver Valley Lodge sponsored our Grand Treasurer RWB Ron Connelly and his wife Elaine for this event. Beaver Valley and Knollwood Lodges also nominated the winner for the Youth of Excellent Award for the Order of Rainbow, Ms. Grace Collins, who is Knollwood Assembly’s Worthy Advisor. Congratulations Grace!

Our annual Inspection season ended on March 12th. The brethren of the District supported the lodges through out the inspections. Fairborn Lodge #764 won the traveling gavel again this year. They had the highest percentage of brethren traveling to the inspections. The 8th District Officers Association also held their Annual Meeting and Installation of Officers that day. Our own WB Skip Vanderhorst was elected to the position of 2nd Vice– President. Congratulation WB Skip!

April will be a busy month. April 7th will be our monthly business meeting. It will start at 7:30 P.M. with dinner at 6:30 P.M. The dinner will be supplied by the Treasurer and Secretary. On the 21st of April the Past Masters will be portraying the EA Degree. Come on out and watch the Past Masters brush off their skills and initiate a newly elected member. The Past Masters Night will start at 7:00 P.M. Also, on the 28th Beaver Valley Lodge will be portraying the MM Degree. The degree will start at 6:30 P.M.

The 8th District is starting up a new program, called Junior Officers Educational Day, on April the 25th at Fayette Lodge. This program is for the junior officers or anyone who is interest in becoming an officer. It will teach you how to prepare for your year as Worshipful Master. The District is also working on bringing back an educational program based on the same ideas of the T.E.L.L. Program. I will let you know more details later when they come available.

Everyone has heard of the Horse Traders Degree in Kentucky. Well the 8th District is starting up one for the state of Ohio. It is called the Buckeye Degree. This mock degree will be held at Jamestown Lodge on the 9th of April. The degree begins with registration starting at 11:00 A.M. and lunch at 12:00 P.M. The degree work will start at 1:00 P.M. They are only excepting the first 75 petitions. So, if you are interested in participating please contact Steve Brown at stevebrown@dragonbbs.com for your petition.

March Trestleboard

March 2011

News From The Worshipful Master

Brethren,

The weather is starting to break and all the Spring sports are ready to start. It is time for the grass and flowers to grow. So get those mowers ready to fire up.

February was another cold and wintery month. From the snow and ice we were not sure whether or not we would be able to hold our Stated Meting on February 3rd. But luckily the sun was able to melt off enough of the parking lot that we could get in and out. Our Deacons supplied a wonderful meal that evening. On the 17th of February we initiated one new brother into the order and examined our newest Maser Mason.

On March the 3rd Beaver Valley Lodge will hold its Stated Meeting at 7:30 P.M. Dinner will be served by the Tyler and Marshall. They will be serving fried chicken, bread, and mash potatoes. Dinner will start at 6:30 P.M. It is open to the family and/or guest. So come and join us and bring your favorite covered dish. On March 5th the 8th Masonic District will host the Grand Master’s Reception at Roberts Center in Wilmington, Ohio at 6:30 P.M. There will be a social hour before the dinner. The cost is $25 per ticket. 21 club members get in free but their guest have to pay for their ticket. Come on out and sponsor our Grand Master and other Grand Officers. All special meetings will be announced at the Stated Meeting on March 3rd. If you know of any candidate that is ready to advance to their next degree. Please let the Secretary or Master of the lodge know by the 3rd.

There is only one more weekend of inspections for the 8th Masonic District. March 11th and 12th are the last dates to get together. March 11th will be at New Burlington and March 12th in Wilmington. It has been a great inspection year. All the lodges have put on fantastic degree work.

Fraternally,
Stephen L. Scarpelli
Worshipful Master

Trestleboard for February

News From The Worshipful Master
Brethren,

They said this was suppose to be a mild winter, but according to January the professionals are wrong. Hopefully February will be a little milder.

In January Beaver Valley Lodge raised 2 Master Masons. I would like to thank all the brethren that came out and helped in the Craft. On the 22nd of January the brethren of the Eighth Masonic District had a visit from the Officers of the Grand Lodge of Ohio. Beaver Valley Lodge was filled to the hilt from all the visiting brethren. Each Grand Lodge Officer presented a very inspiring speech. I would like to thank all the Grand Lodge Officers for this educational experience.

Beaver Valley Lodge will hold its Monthly Stated Meeting on February 3rd. The meal will start at 6:30 pm followed by the business meeting at 7:30 pm. The Stated Dinner will consist of Fried Chicken and Potatoes. We will be holding a practice for our inspection on the 24th of February. The practice will start at 7:00 pm. On the 26th of February Beaver Valley Lodge and Knollwood Lodge will be holding their Annual Inspections. Knollwood Lodge will be portraying the Master Mason Degree at 9:00 am and Beaver Valley Lodge will be portraying the Fellow Craft Degree at 1:00 pm. Beaver Valley Lodge will be hosting the Inspection Dinner at 12 noon. The ladies from Eastern Star will be preparing the meal. Please come and support your lodge at its annual inspection. The Worshipful Master will announce at the February Stated Meeting whether we will be holding degree work on the 17th of February.

The Worshipful Master has tickets for the Grand Master’s Reception at Roberts Center in Wilmington, OH. This event is on March 5th and at 6:30 pm. The tickets cost $25 per person. Hopefully you will come and show your support for our Grand Master MWB Bradford A. Goebel.

Brethren if you are coaching a brother. Please get together with our Lodge Education Officer (WB Bruce Gardner) and inform him of your candidate’s progress. We need to know this to schedule him for his next degree.

The Eighth Masonic District has 10 lodge inspections scheduled for February. The dates are on the calendar. See you at Lodge.
Fraternally,
Stephen L. Scarpelli
Worshipful Master

From the Secretary’s Desk
Brethren,
As many of you know, I am the Education Officer for the Lodge. There are four (4) Grand Lodge education programs that each Lodge is required to portray during the year. For the stated meeting in February, I will be portraying one of these programs. The subject of the program will be “Heroes”. I will ask each one of you who attends the meeting to think about who your childhood heroes were. In addition, I will be asking you to think about the meaning of the word hero and who you might fit the description of a “Hero”.

A Wii Bowling tournament was held during month of January. I want to thank Zach Roush for hosting. I would also like to thank all those who participated. Future plans for social events include: a Euchre Tournament and a Golf Outing.
Anyone who would like to help plan and/or participate in these events, please contact Zach (513-885-8672) or myself.
As always, should your address, telephone number, or other personal data change, please let me know immediately. If you are connected, feel free to e-mail your change. It's much faster and I will let you know that I have received your update!
For those of you that have e-mail accounts, the Trestleboard is available through e-mail. This allows you to receive the Trestleboard ten to fourteen days earlier than by snail-mail. If you wish to receive the Trestleboard via e-mail, please send your request to hydroman14@netzero.com.

Hello prophets and ladies,
Ormus is busy at work. We are trying to find some new fund raiser to continue to support our children of the temple by being able to continue the Easter and Christmas parties.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know so we can pursue them. We are currently looking into the possibility of raising our yearly dues a small amount to help offset some of the costs as well as the increase of supreme council dues.

We are also planning our annual Grotto ball; we have had a great success in the past and plan to continue the fun and fellowship. We will be announcing the dates at a later time.

If there is anyone that would like to become more active please feel free to call me, we are always looking for more help.

The Supreme council has sent us some information to get new members to join the realm, if you have any friends that you feel they would make a great prophet please get them involved.

I want to thank all the prophets for their thoughts, prayers and cards for myself and family after the passing of my father. THANKS this is what masonry is all about pulling together when adversity hits a fellow brother.

Prophets don’t forget those special ladies, February 14th is Valentine day so make sure you get out and get something special.
And remember the letter “G” also stands for Grotto
Fraternally,
Brian Arnold, Monarch
